RoadMAP Toolkit™: Fostering Relapse Prevention in Group Therapy The RoadMAP Toolkit™ cost-effectively harnesses the innate skills of treatment counselors to deliver an evidence-based Relapse Prevention intervention to clients in group counseling. Employing a “learning by teaching” approach, RoadMAP is simpler and more efficient for counselors to learn than other Relapse Prevention strategies. It distills the essentials of this evidence-based practice into six content modules, each accompanied by multiple tools that can be flexibly “mixed or matched” by clinicians, including a client video, eye-catching posters, patient worksheets, and other multi-media techniques for engaging clients. Each module is designed to be used “off-the-shelf” and requires only brief training to master. With development informed by extensive research, expert input, field testing and focus groups, RoadMAP Toolkit was introduced by Adam C. Brooks, Ph.D. and others from the Treatment Research Institute (TRI). It is one of many research-informed products offered by TRI, an independent, non-profit research and development group whose mission is science-driven transformation of treatment and policy in substance use and abuse. |

“The RoadMAP Toolkit components are multidimensional, striking, and work well together . . . the curricula have changed the way we operate in group . . . the program is excellent and any clinician would benefit.”
